Tutela's mission is to safeguard the well-being of elders and incapacitated individuals by providing compassionate and expert guidance through guardianship and conservatorship services. We are dedicated to ensuring dignified care, responsible stewardship, and peace of mind for all those we serve.
Our guardians advocate for the best interests of those in our care, making decisions regarding healthcare, living arrangements, and personal needs.
Tutela's conservators manage the financial affairs of those under our care, safeguarding assets and ensuring responsible use of resources.
In Virginia, a circuit court can appoint a guardian or conservator for an adult who is unable to manage their own personal or financial affairs. The guardian is responsible for the incapacitated person's care, support, health, safety, education, therapeutic treatment, and place of residence. The conservator is responsible for the incapacitated person's estate and financial affairs. The guardian and conservator may be the same person, or they may be two separate individuals, or multiple people may share the roles as co-guardians or co-conservators.Â
